NORDEL CLUB RULES

- UPDATED June 26, 2023 -

Group Meeting COVID-19 Guidance:

- Members are encouraged to be fully vaccinated, to include booster shots.

- Masks are not required.

- It is suggested to open windows, leave entrance door open, and fan turned on to circulate air when temperature is mild. If air conditioners are being      used, turning on the ceiling fan and a box fan in the back room helps with air flow.

- Members should stay home if they feel ill.

OTHER CLUB ROOM RULES

- Put your drink in a cozy (they are on/near the desk) and mark your name on it with a Sharpie so everyone knows who it be longs to.

- Clean up any beverages, coffee cups, soda cans or water bottles even if someone else left them.

- If the trash cans are full, take them to the dumpster and put a new bag in the can.

- Visitors must be accompanied at all times by the inviting Nordel member.

- Those who use their layout key to enter the building at unscheduled times must make sure all lights and power are off (especially soldering irons

and heat guns) and the door is locked when leaving.

· Keep the work bench clear of “stuff.” Put it away.

 LAYOUT RULES

- The layout is open for fun running any day and time except during business meetings. Please comply with all the rules on this page.

- Do not take any locos or cars out of storage boxes for use on the layout. Don’t leave your own cars or locos on the layout for now.

- Do not leave construction materials on tracks where they can be hit by trains. Clean paint, glue and excessive dust off tracks before you leave.

- Do not leave trains on the main line. Leave switches lined for the main line.

- If there are problems with the equipment, track or DCC system, leave a note so they can be corrected.

 DCC RULES

- Always dispatch the address when a loco is parked—Failure to do so prevents other throttles from acquiring the address. Important: Set the throttle to zero speed before dispatching an address. Failure to do this can cause a runaway and it will prevent other throttles from acquiring the address. Removing a loco from the layout will not release the address.

- Never “Steal” a loco address—You may be tempted to do this when you are unable to acquire an address and ”Steal?=Y” appears in the throttle display. This is forbidden on Nordel's layout because it can lead to strange behavior with locos starting and stopping on their own and non-acquired locos moving.

- If you separate consisted locos, always “unconsist” them using the throttle—The “top” loco and any consisted locos will respond to the throttle, even if they are physically far apart. Removing a loco from the layout will not unconsist it. If locos are coupled to each other you can assume they are consisted, maybe for good reason. So, make sure you have a good rea son to break up a consist before you do it.

- Do not change any settings on the Command Station/Booster module—You can mess things up if you throw toggles or reset the soft switches in the command station without a thorough knowledge of what you are doing. At this time, only Karl (currently out-of-contact), Roger, Lloyd and Paul are qualified to do this.

- Do not change the CVs in any Nordel locomotive—If you think it needs to be done, contact Paul.

 PURCHASING RULES

- Before you buy—Confirm with the “authorized purchaser” that it is appropriate and within budget for the expense category. Authorized purchasers for each expense category are listed in the budget document. See it in the January 2023 newsletter or ask Lloyd for the name of the authorized purchaser for your item.

- Pay for the item with your own money—

- Send your receipt to Treasurer Lloyd Thayer for reimbursement—3908 Heather Dr., Wilmington DE 19807
